A day in the life as a DevOps Engineer at MediSpend:
- Reconfigure virtual machine/tmp storage volumes after receiving a close to limit alert
- Rescue a virtual machine that exhibits alarming health characteristics
- Transfer a client database from one RDS instance to another
- Collaborate with clients to set up their SSO connection
- Apply the latest security patches to the standard AMI
- Enable permissions for a new developer to access an S3 bucket
- Update some Ansible and Terraform scripts to reconfigure a tech stack
- Manage our device vendor to upgrade the standard company issued laptop image
- Capacity plan for internal application usage and renew annual subscriptions
- Help technical support and development replicate a reported issue
- Scan the log files for a suspicious and potentially damaging hack attempt
What you bring to the table:
- Professional with a great blend of practical experience, education, and achievement
- Looking for an entry level position to evolve from basic AWS technician to seasoned veteran
- Extensive history of Linux, Java and open-source project administration and configuration Practical experience configuring, deploying, and monitoring systems at AWS
- Working knowledge of the AWS Console and the AWS CLI
- Experience with essential AWS services (EC2, S3, Route 53, RDS)
- Exposure to container frameworks a plus (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Skills to administer/update/troubleshoot employee devices, notably Windows/MAC laptops and mobile devices
- Microsoft O365 and AzureAD experience required
- Efficient at getting your points across in written and verbal mediums
- Experience with automation frameworks like Ansible, Terraform, OpsWorks is a plus
- Not required to be a programmer, but Python skills will come in handy and put you ahead of the pack. Minor points for awk/sed wizardry
